Progress on the Sims replacement

A few weeks earlier I proposed making a Sims clone. Since then I have pressed forward somewhat obsessively since using the working title of “Humans”.

Initially though the direction of development won’t be what you are likely expecting. Reactions on Reddit were mostly positive and some people even volunteered to contribute game art. The conversation though mainly centred around the question of graphics.

Right now I’m working on a version that displays everything in a text log. Hardly exciting but focussing on graphics up front not only runs the risk of being side tracked or even worse, getting started with an engine that will clash with the actual simulation code and plugin architecture.

At present I’ve created a framework for handling concepts such as Sim to Sim relationships and am now starting on the temporary user interface. That will be followed by AI algorithms, then support for plugins, then the graphics and sound.
